On-Ground, Semi-Inground & Full Inground Pools
The right installation approach depends on the yard’s grade, or ground level, and the design you want to create. How the pool sits in relation to the surrounding ground can help you narrow the options before selecting components.
The primary installation types include:
- On-ground pools: The pool structure is installed above the surrounding grade rather than fully excavated into the yard.
- Semi-inground pools: The structure is set partly below grade and partly above it, allowing the elevation to work with the property’s layout.
- Full inground pools: The entire structure is installed below grade, requiring excavation for the pool.
We design, build, and service on-ground and semi-inground pools. During the initial site visit, we evaluate the property and review available designs and components so you can make an informed decision without pressure to buy.
Backyard Pool, Spa & Wellness Options
A residential project may center on summer recreation, relaxation, aquatic exercise, or year-round wellness. Our options include:
- On-ground and semi-inground pools
- Spas
- Saunas
- Swim spas
Each option has distinct space and installation considerations. We begin by discussing how you want to use your backyard, then review the products that fit that vision.
Patented Gibraltar Pool™ Features
Gibraltar Pool™ designs are backed by six U.S. Government patents. Their proprietary construction details address liner fit, underwater visibility, deck planning, and touchable metal surfaces.
Every Gibraltar Pool™ includes:
- Safety View™ liner: This proprietary 22-mil winterized virgin vinyl liner uses a patented custom liner-fit system designed for longer liner life. It also enhances underwater visibility to improve swimmer monitoring.
- Alum-A-Clad™ decking system: The patio decking system wraps all four sides of the pool, eliminating the need to build a separate wooden deck.
- Finished metal surfaces: Every piece of metal that can be touched is finished, with no rough or sharp metal edges.
The Gibraltar Pool™ has received design recognition from the National Spa and Pool Institute and the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals. It has also been featured in Good Housekeeping magazine.
From Site Evaluation to Pool School
Every installation has a dedicated project manager who remains available as a consistent point of contact throughout the project.
The process includes:
- Backyard survey: A factory-trained design professional visits your home, evaluates the site, takes precise measurements, and discusses your vision.
- Design review: We walk through the available pool designs and components so you can evaluate the complete project before deciding.
- Permit guidance: We guide you through the permitting process and explain applicable local code requirements.
- Pool installation: Most Gibraltar Pool™ installations are completed in a single day.
- Complimentary Pool School: After installation, we explain pool operation, routine maintenance, and safety features so you know how to use and care for the system.
Pool Permits & Barriers in Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Most Massachusetts towns require a permit before work begins. State building requirements generally call for a building permit unless the project is a prefabricated pool less than 24 inches deep. Local building departments administer permit reviews and inspections, so requirements vary by municipality and project.
Separate trade permits may also apply. Electrical wiring or bonding requires an electrical permit, while a gas-fired pool heater requires a gas permit. We guide customers through the permitting process so the planned installation addresses applicable local codes.
Outdoor pool and spa barriers in Massachusetts generally must stand at least 48 inches above grade. Openings must prevent a 4-inch sphere from passing through, and gates must be self-closing and self-latching. The local building department determines how these requirements apply to a specific property.
Pool Financing & Manufacturer’s Warranties
We offer creative financing options with low monthly payments for qualifying customers, giving homeowners greater flexibility when planning their investment.
Every Gibraltar Pool™ is protected by manufacturer’s warranties covering defective materials and workmanship. We stand behind these as the strongest manufacturer’s warranties in the swimming pool industry.
